BARTEK – Timothy A., 57, New Germany, passed away unexpectedly January 30, 2017, at home. Born December 9, 1959, in Altoona, son of the late Morton and Patricia (Kuhn) Bartek.
Survived by loving wife, Dorothy M. (Wirfel) Bartek; daughters, Kelsey, at home; Kaitlyn, her husband Ryan Kieta, and beloved granddaughter, Adelyn Marie Kieta, of Mundys Corner. Also survived by his brother, David and wife, Norene, of Altoona; sister, Cheryl and husband Mark Lauer, of Richmond, Virginia; and his in-laws The Wirfels.
Tim was a loving husband, Dad, and Pops. An avid outdoorsman, he loved spending time hunting, boating and cat fishing on the Allegheny. He enjoyed reading a wide variety of genres, including history, mystery, and sci-fi. Tim liked to cook, often creating his own recipes in mass quantities. His favorite band was Chicago, and he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. Tim always had dogs. He leaves behind Duke and Buster, but Tara and Kody always held a special place in his heart. Tim was a Master Electrician who hoped to instill the value of learning a skilled trade within his students at The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. He was a talented trumpet player and a gifted singer who performed with many bands over the years, including his own band The SoundWaves. Most recently he performed with Rosie and The Jammers. Tim sang a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria at local parishes. Tim had a deep impact upon countless family, friends, and students. He will be greatly missed.
Honoring his wishes there will be no public viewing.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass which will be concelebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Monsignor Robert Mazur and Father Leon Hont, OSB.
