THEYS – Thomas R., "Tommy," 78, formerly of Johnstown, died July 14, 2020, at Maple Winds Care Center, Portage. Born July 22, 1941, in South Fork, son of Elmer J. and Mary Beatrice (McCloskey) Theys.
Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Ethel F. (Thomas) Theys; daughter, Wendy Martino; sisters, Johann Yowell and Rosie Ropecka; and brothers, Elmer Theys Jr., and David Strayer.
Survived by companion, Dorla Shaw, East Freedom; son, Michael, married to Christine Potter, Mineral Point; daughters, Tammy, wife of Gene Dively, Carlisle, and Patricia, wife of Rev. Tom Dunkle, Dover, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Barbara Jean Reighard, Johnstown; Ora Wood, Houston, Texas; Judy Rigel, Krayn; Sally Platt, South Fork; Danny Theys, Sunbury; Jackie Theys, South Fork; Ginger Bachik, South Fork; and Gladys Brown, Mentor, Ohio.
Tommy was a member of South Fork First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1960; earned an associate degree from Hiram G. Andrews, and was a longtime bookkeeper for Empire Foundations. He enjoyed the music of Neil Diamond, bowling, traveling and riding his motorcycle. Along with Dorla he was a member of the Blair County Central PA Touring Club and was an avid Steeler’s fan.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of memorial service at noon Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, his son-in-law, the Reverend Tom Dunkle presiding.
