PHILLIPS - Thomas Robert, 75, of Tallmadge, Ohio, died January 8, 2022, at Colony HealthCare Center, where he had been a resident since 2019.
Born April 26, 1946, in South Fork, Pa., son of Thomas J. and Julia Belle (Theys) Phillips. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Ellen Jane (Walters); sister-in-law, Lois "Honey" Phillips; brothers-in-law, Donald Navatsyk, Ronald Woznick, and Ralph Wadsworth.
Survived by sons, Matthew, husband of Stephanie Phillips, of Mars, Pa; Mark, husband of Kimberly Larson-Phillips, of North Canton, Ohio; and Brian, husband of Kimberly Phillips of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; beloved grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Thomas Phillips, Sophia Phillips, Samuel Phillips and Andrew Phillips; brother, Harvey, Euclid, Ohio; sisters, Anna Navatsyk, Chardon, Ohio; Judy Woznick, Bloomsburg, Pa.; and Beverly, wife of Anthony Lesko, Waldorf, Maryland; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Thomas was a 1964 graduate of Triangle Area High School in Sidman, Pa., and a graduate of Chandler Technical Institute in Willoughby, Ohio.
He worked for many years for Ohio Edison in Akron, Ohio, as well as American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio, from where he retired. He enjoyed going to casinos, fishing, was an avid ancient history buff and ignited a curiosity about the world in his sons. He was definitely a Stones guy, not The Beatles.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Colony Healthcare Center in Tallmadge who diligently and lovingly cared for him since 2019, including Toz, Ivy, Michelle, Jessica, Christine, and many more amazing people who while we might not know your names, we nevertheless are immensely grateful for the care you provided; case manager Marlesha Ouedraogo of Summit County Department of Job and Family Services and the doctors and nurses of SummaHealth in Akron.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork; the Reverend Randy Landman presiding. Inurnment, South Fork Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask any donations to be made to research to fight dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's disease.
