PATERSON – Thomas, 66, Salix, died August 3, 2018, at Good Samaritan Cancer Care Center. Born July 1, 1952, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Morganti) Paterson.
Survived by loving wife of 31 years, Sharon L. (Casti) Paterson, whom he married June 13, 1987; daughter, Chelsea L., wife of Scott Shirk, Portage; and son, Braden R., Denver, Colorado; cherished granddaughters, Eva and Mia; brothers, Alexander, Walter, Philip (Ellen), and Joseph (Sherry), all of Indiana, Pennsylvania; and Andrew (Amy), Oakmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Early in his career, he worked corporate and field positions with Pennsylvania Electric Company. He was a dedicated certified safety professional (CSP) having received his bachelor’s degree in Safety Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1982. Tom was the founder and president of Professional Safety and Health, Inc. for 22 years. In 2016, he began collaborating with his Alma mater consulting for the PA/OSHA Consultation Program. Tom loved to play golf, drink Scotch, walk his grandpup, Jackson, and visit the casino to play cards – when Tom won, everyone won. He loved to fly planes and had hoped to take his grandchildren for a ride one day. He was generous and kind and treated everyone with dignity. He wore his heart on his sleeve and made friends everywhere he went. His family was his valued treasure and he will be forever missed.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Maple Street, South Fork, 15956, where a vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, by Father Brian Warchola.
