PEPOY – Steve J.,91, St. Michael, died December 29, 2023. Born February 2, 1932, in Johnstown, son of John and Elizabeth (Pastor) Pepoy. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Gladys E. (Margo) Pepoy, who died March 3, 2009; daughter, Judith Mary Pepoy; sisters, Marie Ambrose, Ann Franze, Irene Burkey, and Elizabeth Mihalko; and brothers, John, Joseph, and George Pepoy.
Survived by daughter, Marya Pepoy; sons, Alan (Allyson Haddad); and Jon (Kerri Selland); daughter-in-law, Jamie Lark; grandchildren, Alyssa (Justin Henry); and Seth Pepoy; great-granddaughter, Arie Henry; sister, Katherine (Charles Wilkie); and in-laws, Inga Pepoy and John Burkey.
Member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Graduate of Conemaugh Township High School, class of 1951. Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship. He could vividly recall plays from specific games and was proud to have played on the winning team in the 1955 Gator Bowl. He was a retired civil engineer from PennDot, a member and avid golfer at Windber Country Club, and especially cherished time with family and friends. We find comfort knowing he has awakened in Heaven with the Lord and has rejoined those loved ones who went before him and whom he has longed to see again.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Jerzy Auguscik, OFM Conv., celebrant.
