LESTER- Sophie Cecelia, 86, formerly of Sidman, died Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Celebration Villa, Lebanon. Born on May 13, 1938, in Johnstown, daughter of Manuela (Huerta) and Anthony Dominguez. Preceded in death by husband, Ronald Glenn Lester, who died April 18, 2014; son, David; her parents; and siblings, Olga Foster, Jay Dominque, Irene Servacek, Flavio Dominguez, and Sally Cross.
Survived by children Mark, married to Anne (Peretin), Downingtown; Joseph, married to Sharla (Gettler), Myerstown; and Laura Berkey and fiancé, Marc Orlando, York. Sophie was a devoted grandmother to Adam Lester, Andre Lester, Audra Berkey, Aidan Berkey, Mason Lester and Makena Lester. Her surviving siblings include Jeanette Kuehnel, St. Charles, Missouri; and Eva Corniel, Los Angeles, California.
Sophie spent much of her life as an Army wife, having moved throughout the United States and Europe during the 20 years that Glenn was deployed to various locations. Upon returning to Johnstown, she enjoyed her family to the fullest. Once her children moved to eastern Pennsylvania, the couple followed. Sophie last resided in Lebanon.
Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Saint Michael, Father Jerzy Auguscik, OFM Conv., celebrant. Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
