MARTIN – Samuel R. 87, St. Michael, died January 4, 2019, six days after his beloved wife. Born October 29, 1931, in South Fork, son of Richard and Catherine (Lentine) Martin.
Preceded in death by parents; wife, Grace (Myers) Martin, who died December 29, 2018; sisters, Angeline Reitz and Mary Mihalich, and brothers, Joseph, James, and Angelo Martin.
Survived by son, Samuel V., married to Jean (Ressel), Perkasie; cherished grandchildren, Sara A. and Eric L. Martin; sisters, Jennie Walukas, Rose Ruud, Catherine “Honey” Schlabig, and Sarah West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sam was a devout member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired steelworker from Bethlehem Steel Corp., car shop division. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports enthusiast; and especially enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sam and Grace were great hosts and loved opening their home; sharing many wonderful meals and celebrations with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fr. Joseph C. Nale celebrant.
