Ronald D. "Buck" Strayer Sr.

STRAYER – Ronald D. Sr. “Buck,” 83, Johnstown, died February 6, 2021 at Cambria Care Center. Born June 1, 1937, in Johnstown, son of Ardell Strayer and Hazel (Smay) Strayer-McGarvey.

Preceded in death by parents; wife, Elizabeth M. (Teeter) Strayer, who died April 24, 1999; brother, Kenneth E. Strayer; and sister, Twila J. Cameron.

Survived by sons, Ronald D. Jr., Johnstown; and Brian K., engaged to Amie Shaffer, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Bradyn and Alura.

Buck was a graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1955. He was a US Army Veteran and a retired welder from Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and was a great vegetable gardener; sharing his vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Reverend Joseph Stains presiding.

Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
