Ronald P. Shaffer Sr.

SHAFFER – Ronald P. Sr., 66, Richland, formerly of Ehrenfeld, died December 9, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. Born December 10, 1950, in South Fork, son of Irene (Bopp) Shaffer. Preceded in death by mother; wife, Carla (Mehall) Shaffer, who died September 25, 2007; sister, Florence Vasbinder; and brother, James Shaffer.

Survived by sons, Ronald P. Jr., married to April (Daerr), Wadsworth, Ohio; and Carl J., married to Leann (Murvine), Ehrenfeld; grandchildren, Logan and Alexis; sisters, Mae Weaver, Lancaster; and Phyllis Beck, Windber; and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.

Ron was a US Airforce veteran of the Vietnam War. Retired Food Service Supervisor at Hiram G, Andrews Center, Johnstown. He was a devoted father and cherished his grandchildren. Family gatherings were always made special by his amazing efforts to cook wonderful meals, a talent he learned in the Air Force.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summerhill, by Father Leon Hont, OSB.

Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany.
