Roger R. Layton

LAYTON – Roger R., 85, Windber, passed away January 14, 2025. Born January 20, 1939, in South Fork. Preceded in death by parents; Arlonza C. “Lonnie” and Wilma H. (Reighard) Layton; son, Eric Layton; and infant son, Bruce.

Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Sally (Baloga) Layton; daughters, LouAnn and husband, Robert Beecroft; Patti and husband, Darren Wilson; and Missy and partner, Trish Wustin; grandchildren, Devin Layton and wife, Kristen; Dalton Wilson and wife, Olivia; Jena and husband, Nathan Uhrich; Robert Beecroft Jr., Katie Messier, Mary Frances and husband, Edward Jones; and Kyle Beecroft; great grandchildren, Carter and Tucker Wilson; Carolyn Uhrich; Sophie Messier; and Teddy, Emma, and Charlotte Jones.

Roger was the owner of Construction Group, Inc., and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. He volunteered countless hours with the Adams & Croyle Township Recreation Authority, helping to ensure that the area remained a place where families and friends could gather, play, and make memories. His service extended to the Mount Hope Cemetery Association, where he worked to preserve and honor a sacred space for generations to come. Roger not only built buildings, but also relationships, trust, and community. He gave freely of his time and talents and his impact is felt in many of the projects and parks within the community he cherished.  To his family, Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He led by example, teaching the values of hard work, faith, and love.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Community Church, the Reverend John Ciampa presiding. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.
