Robert Sivec

SIVEC – Robert, 93, Sidman, died January 15, 2019, at Siemon’s Heritage Personal Care Center, Somerset. Born July 26, 1925, in St. Michael, son of Frank and Theresa (Udovic) Hocevar-Sivec.

Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife of 71 years, Hermine L. (Danel) Sivec, who died October 26, 2018; granddaughter, Stacey May; sisters, Mary Vozel, Rose Stresow, Elsie Sivec, and Frances Hening; and brothers, John, Louis and Andrew Sivec, and Matthew and Frank Hocevar.

Survived by children, Susan, wife of Richard May, Summerhill; Robert P., married to Ruth Wolfhope, Sidman; Richard, married to Nancy Lutton, Lilly; Ronald, married to Lisa Long, St. Michael; and Shelley, wife of Dan DeLuca, Altoona; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Sivec, Irene Danel and Helen Danel.

Bob was a graduate of Adams High School, class of 1944. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran who served aboard the SS Cape Diamond, SS James Nesmeth, SS John M. Parker and the USS Brento; in the European, African, Middle Eastern and Asiatic Pacific Theatres. He retired from Bethlehem Mine 33 after 38 years of service. Lifetime and longest consecutive (73 years) member of St. Michael American Legion Post 551, and also a member of St. Michael Sportsmen Club, SNPJ and UMWA.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where a vigil will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church Fr. Brian Warchola Celebrant.

Committal, St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
