PENATZER – Robert W. “Boo Boo,” 91, Ebensburg, passed away December 5, 2022, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born November 23, 1931, in Summerhill, son of John J. and Kathryn (Koch) Penatzer. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Elizabeth "Betts" Cline, Charlotte Kelly, and Joanne Hillegas; and brothers, John R., Paul, Ernest, and Raymond.
Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Mary Lou (Hoffman) Penatzer, whom he married September 6, 1958; children, David, married to Teresa (Balsley), Goochland, Virginia; Carol, wife of David Illig, Ebensburg; Richard, married to Lisa (Gruss) Montpelier, Virginia; Sharon, and Rodney Pearcy, Ebensburg; and Donna, wife of Ronald Vella, Ebensburg; brother, J. Martin, and wife Erika, Mountain Ranch, California; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Robert was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated a service station in California for 10 years, and after moving back, ran Penatzer’s General Service, in Summerhill for nearly 20 years. Past Commander, Vice Commander, and Home Association Manager of the St. Michael American Legion Post 551, where he felt honored to offer military rites for fellow veterans. Member of Summerhill Social Club, VFW, Ebensburg Moose, and the Summerhill Volunteer Fire Department.
Honoring his wishes there will be no visitation.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday December 10, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany; Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant.
Inurnment, St. Marys Cemetery.
Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
Arrangement by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
