MYERS – Robert Alan “Smoke,” 62, Sidman, died April 23, 2021, at home. Born December 14, 1958 in Johnstown, son of Robert D. and Vivian J. “Jeanne” (Sanders) Myers. Preceded in death by parents; and faithful dog, Crosby.
Survived by children, Justin, married to Alissa (McFarland), Sidman; Jamie, wife of Edward Richardson III, Summerhill; and Daniel, married to Gena (Pentz), Westmont; grandchildren, Zachary, Aislinn, Eva, Joshua, Karys and Vivianna Myers; and Xander, Elli, and Gabriel Richardson; sisters, Bobbe Jean, wife of Chris Stohon, South Fork; Jacque, wife of Ernie Martinage, South Fork; brother, Marc, married to Michelle (Wingard), Sidman; former wife, Tacey (Neri) Hulbert, Summerhill; special friends, Mark and Matt Truscott; numerous nieces and nephews and other beloved family; the tight knit Forest Hills sports community; and his special cat, Matty.
He was a member of South Fork First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Forest Hills High School, class of 1977. Smoke worked as a plant operator for the Greater Johnstown Water Authority for the past 44 years. He enjoyed studying the Civil War era and often visited the hallowed battlefields of Gettysburg. He spent a lifetime sharing his passion for sports as a dedicated coach and mentor to countless youth, helping them excel in sports and in life. Alan was happiest watching his grandkids succeed on and off the field. He attended their practices, watched every game, cheered every play, and rooted for them till the end.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 27, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, Justin’s father-in-law, the Reverend Arnold McFarland presiding.
Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
