Robert was a former member of the Bethel UMC, Salix. He was a retired steel worker of 35 years from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown. Following his retirement he cherished spoiling his grandchildren and spending time with family. He was a loving and selfless person who placed the needs of others before his own. His family always came first. As a devoted husband he kept the promise of his wedding vows “In sickness and in health,” caring for his beloved wife at home for 9 years until her passing from Alzheimer’s on April 9, 2017. Robert had a zest for life and was determined to live it to the fullest. He enjoyed the nostalgia of antique car shows and had a passion for live music, especially Country and Western and Bluegrass festivals. He was always eager to try new things. He loved to travel and visit special places like Disney World, Sea World, and the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach. Yet he was just as delighted with a Sunday drive and a great meal among family and friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 15, 2021 and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday April 16, 2021 at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc. South Fork, the Reverend Don Poole, presiding.
