Rita F. Kephart

KEPHART – Rita F., 65, Kissimmee, Florida; formerly of Portage, died July 8, 2017, at Florida Hospital, Orlando, Florida.

Born November 23, 1951, in Johnstown, daughter of James A. “Jay” and Pauline (Sesney) Custer. Preceded in death by parents; infant sister, Carol Lee; and brothers, David and Kenneth.

Survived by children, Carrie, wife of Todd McCabe, Portage; Jamie Barnes, engaged to Jessica Markovic, Blue Knob; and Chad Barnes, Claysburg; grandchildren, Elizabeth, wife of Nick Drummer; Blake, Cassidy and Samantha Barnes, and Ashley and Emily McCabe; also great-grandchildren, Caden and Landon Drummer. Rita cherished being with family and adored her kids and grandchildren.

She made friends wherever she went, whether it was striking up conversations with strangers at the grocery store or meeting new neighbors in Florida. Her gracious smile and charming personality always made people feel comfortable. She enjoyed living in Florida; from swimming at the pool, shopping at Publix, to taking cart rides and tending to her flowers, or simply spending a relaxing evening with friends on her porch. She lived a full and loving life and was a blessing to every person she met. We will miss her.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, by Rev. Tim Dietrich.

Interment, St. Marys Cemetery, New Germany.
