WITHEROW - Richard Clyde, 88, of Troutville, Virginia; formerly of Newtown - Conemaugh Township, Cambria County; passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024 after a long battle with Dementia. Born on August 5, 1936, in Conemaugh Township; son of Vincent H. and Marie A. (Berg) Witherow.
Preceded in death by parents; his beloved wife, Judith E. (Adams) Witherow; brothers, James Witherow, Vincent “Bud” (Virginia) Witherow, Paul (Amy) Witherow; sister, Joan Montag (Bernard).
Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Tina (Scott) Harlow and Teresa (Rob) Fisher; cherished grandchildren Nicole, Michael, Ben, Nathan, Gabby, and Tatumn; brothers, Ronald (Jane) Witherow and Robert (Louise) Witherow.
A devout member of The Church of the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Fincastle, Virgina. Richard lived out his faith as a member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the distinguished Fourth Degree. His service to his church and community was a cornerstone of his life. He proudly served his country with honor for 38 years, first in the United States Air Force and later with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Richard’s service was a defining aspect of his life, and he often spoke with great pride about his military career and the friendships he formed during his time in uniform. Richard worked as an electrician for Bethlehem Steel, where he was known for his skill, dedication, and work ethic. Outside of his career, he found great joy in his family and faith, always prioritizing the people and values that mattered most. Richard’s warmth, unwavering faith, and love for his family will leave an enduring legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Richard lived a life rooted in faith, dedication, and love for his family.
Friends will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at SS. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church, Daisytown, Rev. Callistus I. Elue, Pastor.
