Remy F. Beaver

September 7, 1930 — February 28, 2018

BEAVER - Remy F., “Ray,” 87, York, formerly of Sidman, left this world on February 28, and there is no doubt that the gates of heaven were opened and he was met by his wife of 58 years Wilfrieda “Fritzie” Beaver (Bellert), his son, Michael Beaver, his brothers: Augusta “Bob” Bever, Stanley Beaver, his sister, Alice Beaver (Sister Mary DeChantal) and his parents John and Emma Beaver (Marshall).

He is survived by his two sons and (spouses), Gregory (Marianne), Maryland; Robert (Susan), Delaware; and his three daughters, Barbara Henricksen (Gary), Florida; Nancy Foley, Texas; Patricia Beas, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Diane Beaver, Pennsylvania; 12 Grandchildren: Sarah, Lee, Christopher, Christin, Ashley, Jason, Jordan, Daniel, Katherine, Ann, Maura, and Miranda and 8 great grandchildren: Michael, Kyle, Nathan, Andrew, Rebekah, Gunnar, Kylie and Finley.

Ray proudly served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrest Royal (DD-872) during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged 1952, shortly thereafter he married the love of his life, Fritzie, in 1953. Ray and Fritzie spent the majority of their lives in Tipp City, Ohio where Ray retired from Tippecanoe School District and was an active member of St. Johns Catholic Church. Ray and Fritzie moved to Johnstown, PA in 1995 where he enjoyed his retirement gardening, spending time in the woods and working in his wood shop. You would have always found Ray leading the Rosary at St. Michael Catholic Church where he was also an active member. One of his proudest moments was being the oldest man to receive a motorcycle license at age 83 in Cambria County, PA. He spent his remaining years at Country Meadows Retirement Community in York, PA. Ray will truly be missed by all including his faithful dog to the very end, “Snickers.”

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.
