GOUGHNOUR – Raymond E., 94, Mineral Point, died November 10, 2022, at UPMC Altoona. Born February 20, 1928, in Nanty Glo, son of Morgan and Ethel (Tyson) Goughnour.
Preceded in death by parents; wife, Elsie R. (Worthington), who died March 26, 2019; stepmother, Edna Mae (Bowmen); grandson, Christian Tyler Pease; infant sister, Lyda; sister, Mildred Vitko; and brothers, Charles and Robert.
Survived by daughter, Carol Pease, Hobe Sound, Florida; son, Raymond Jr. “Butch,” married to Darlene (Herman), Port Saint Lucie, Florida; brother, Jack (Lucy) Goughnour, Ligonier; grandchildren, Corey (Victoria) Pease, Casey Pease, and Chad and Ryan Goughnour; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Foster Pease; and numerous nieces and nephews.
US Navy veteran having crossed the Equator aboard the USS Philippine Sea during Operation Highjump, the mission led by Admiral Byrd to establish the Antarctic research base Little America. Ray worked for Uneeda Plumber and retired from the maintenance department at the Cresson State Center. Member of F&AM Summit Lodge # 312, Ebensburg; and American Legion, Post 430, Portage.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork; where a Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday.
Visitation at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Reverend Randy Landman presiding.
Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.
