Randy W. Smay

SMAY – Randy W., 65, Summerhill, died October 3, 2024. Born March 5, 1959, in Windber, son of the late William W. “Bunk” and Phyllis J. (Pete) Smay.

Survived by wife of 35 years, Peggy (Schrift) Smay, whom he married November 26, 1988; children, Katie, engaged to Joe Shields; Randy Jr.; and Emily; sisters, Debbie, wife of Stephen Moyer; and Tracey, wife of Don Kordish; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Randy was a graduate of Forest Hills High School, class of 1978 and a retired steel worker from North American Hoganas. Whether it was softball, bowling, or darts, Randy brought a fun-loving and competitive spirit to everything he did. Riding his Harley gave him a sense of adventure and peace. As a volunteer assistant coach for the Forest Hills Girl's Softball Team, he had a gift for helping young athletes grow in both skill and character. Randy will be remembered as loving husband and father with a giving spirit and a heart full of kindness.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Summerhill, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant.
