LONG – Philomena Helen “Minnie,” 84, New Germany, died May 2, 2016 at Good Samaritan Nursing Care, Johnstown.
Born July 25, 1931, in South Fork, daughter of Loreto and Anna (Schrader) Crocefoglia. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Raymond C. Long, who died, Oct. 6, 2006; daughter, Christine Ann Latoche, who died June 29, 2007 and brother, Stanley F. Crocefoglia.
Survived by children, Kathleen R., wife of Richard Naret, Palm Harbor, Fla., Sharon, wife of Daniel Penatzer, Summerhill; Jeffrey A., married to Janet (Penatzer), New Germany; Barbara H., wife of Michael Muchard, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; Karen M., wife of Donald Robertson, Jacksonville, Fla.; Robert J., New Germany; and Russell G., married to Pamela (Snyder), Ebensburg; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie A., wife of Kenneth Hoover, Johnstown; Mary N., wife of Steve Ference, Amherst, Ohio; Edith A., wife of Donald Boley, New Germany and Loretta, wife of Stephen Gerko, Johnstown; and also, sister-in-law, Florence (Brummert) Crocefoglia, Johnstown.
Minnie was a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany, where she was a member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many recitals, sporting events and activities through the years. At home or at the cabin, she welcomed family and friends to share her wonderfully cooked meals, celebrate special occasions and holidays and take comfort in the simple pleasure of sitting next to a warm fire. Her family and friends will hold dear memories of a loving, kind and generous woman who was full of life and laughter.
Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:15 p.m. and vigil will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by Father Leon Hont, OSB.
