STROPKO – Nicholas W., “Nick,” 75, South Fork, died January 13, 2019, at home. Born June 7, 1943, in Johnstown, son of John and Verna (Gima) Stropko.
Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Margaret Durica.
Survived by loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy M. (McClellan) Stropko, whom he married October 4, 1969; daughters, Theresa M., wife of Steve Paulson, South Fork; and Nicole M., wife of Gregory Mehall, Thurmont, Maryland; grandchildren and “little buddies,” Joshua Paulson, married to Caitlin (Wills), Altoona; Kayla (Paulson), wife of Christopher Lazration, Waynesboro; and Justin Mehall, Thurmont, Maryland; great-grandson, Landon Lazration and expected Paulson great-granddaughter; sisters, Helen and Mary Ann; and numerous nieces and nephews and other beloved relatives and friends.
Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork. US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in Germany as an MP. Retired steelworker from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown and Sparrows Point, Maryland. Following retirement, he enjoyed working security for Gittings Security, Ebensburg. Nick was an avid Steelers fan (though he was deeply disappointed by their lackluster performance this year), he also enjoyed hunting and was a jokester who could find humor in almost any situation (except the Steelers losing, there’s nothing funny about that.)
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Jospeh C. Nale, Celebrant.
