Michelle L. "Mikey" Poborski

POBORSKI – Michelle L. “Mikey,” 65, South Fork, passed away September 22, 2020 at home, after a brave battle with cancer. Born November 9, 1954, in Johnstown, daughter of Charles McCarthy and Anna (Selepack) DeFrank. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Hallie Ruffing; mother and father-in-law, Sophie (Szwast) and Joseph Ponczek; brothers-in-law, Arthur George and Jack Tibbens; and friend Vinnie Grow. Survived by husband of 48 years, Andrew E. Poborski Jr.; daughter, Melissa, wife of Bill Ruffing; son, Andrew “Drewt,” married to Rebecca (Tremel), all of South Fork; beloved grandchildren, Briana, Cassidy, Charlee, Zack, Macie, and Sofie; brother, Samuel (JoAnn) DeFrank Johnstown; Gloria, wife of Bernard Tompkins, St. Michael; and Joann Tibbens and friend Jim Patterson; in-laws, Bill (Jane) Poborski; Mary Jane George; Joe (Sandy) Ponczek; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Shelly and Jack Theys, and Sharon Valinsky; and numerous other dear family and friends. Mikey was a member of South Fork and Saint Michael Volunteer Fire Companies Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Michael American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 551. She enjoyed volunteering at fundraisers and dinners, playing bingo, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Reverend Patrick Walsh presiding. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the family.
