Michael K. Theys, Jr.

Michael’s life took a tragic turn on January 31, 2023. The day he went missing, leaving us all in a state of shock, confusion, and agony. We hoped and prayed for his safe return, holding onto the belief that we would see him again, hug him again; that he would walk through the door, smile, and tell us his story. As the days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, the hope that sustained us was shattered. On May 16, 2024, our worst fears were confirmed. His death leaves us with more questions than answers, and a profound grief that we struggle to grasp.

Born April 11, 1984, in Johnstown, he is survived by his grandmother, Gloria (Nesbella) Potter; parents, Michael Sr. and Christine (Potter) Theys; son, Kaleb Michael Theys; brother, Kevin Theys; sister, Brittany Theys (Andrew Krens) and niece, Zariyah Krens. He was preceded in death by great-grandmother, Virginia Fresch, and grandparents, David Potter, Tommy Theys, and Dorothy Prescott. 

Michael was a graduate of Forest Hills High School and Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech Class of 2003. He cherished time together with his son and niece and had an exceptional talent for auto body repair and painting. He took pride in his work with an eye for detail; ensuring seamless color matching, even coats, and flawless finishes. We remember the good times we shared—the moments of joy and laughter. We may be worlds apart, but you are always in our prayers, and forever in our hearts. Though you were taken from us too soon, we will carry your memory with us always.
