BLAZOSKY - Michael G. “Boz” or “Chief,” 88, St. Michael, passed away July 19, 2022. Born March 24, 1934, in Windber, son of Michael Jr. and Mary (Chinchar) Blazosky. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Ann Marie (Glovany) Blazosky; son, Mark Michael Blazosky; grandson, Michael Alberto Diaz; and son-in-law, Dr. Carlos A. Diaz.
Survived by children, Susan Blazosky, St. Michael; Bernard, married to Jennifer (Petroro) Blazosky, St. Michael; and Heidi Diaz, Friedens; grandchildren, Christa, Alexander, Katrina, and Julia Diaz; and Joseph Blazosky; sisters, Phyllis (Joseph) Slonac; and Marcia (Ronald) Costlow; in-laws, Paul Glovany; Claire (Ronald) Glass; Mary Grace (William) Martyak; Joan (Samuel) Cammarata; and Thresa (Peter) Valko.
Michael was a 1952 graduate of Adams-Summerhill High School and 1959 graduate of California State University where he earned a degree in Industrial Arts Education. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Central Cambria School District where he taught Industrial Arts. Michael was a life member of Adams Township Volunteer Fire Company #2, St. Michael. He was also very active in the Adams Township Area Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow honor for dedicated humanitarian service from the Lions Club International Foundation. Michael enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and horseshoes and was on numerous leagues over his lifetime. He belonged to the Slovak Catholic Sokols and St. Michael American Legion, Post 551. He was a man of deep faith and passed those convictions on to his children and grandchildren. He was happy to help anyone in need and loved to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor. Michael belonged to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Beaverdale, where he served in many ministries during his lifetime.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where the Lions will hold a service at 4 p.m., the firefighters at 6:30 p.m., and Parastas will be sung at 7:30 p.m.
Brief service at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, the Very Reverend Father James A. Spontak, Celebrant.
