Matilda "Hoy" Blozevich

February 11, 1925 — September 12, 2024

BLOZEVICH - Matilda “Hoy,” 99, St. Michael, passed away September 12, 2024. Born February 11, 1925, in Johnstown, and grew up in Bon Air. 

Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Ursula (Svete) Pristow; stepfather, Anton Prchin; husband, Edward G. “Zeke” Blozevich, who died January 13, 2006; and sisters, Ann Fichera, Florence Newton, Albina Sweltz and Frances Hillman. 

Survived by daughters, Valerie, wife of Dave Dimmick; and Susan, wife of Greg Bigot, and many nieces and nephews. 

Member of St. Michael Catholic Church, SNPJ lodge #174, United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) associate member, Friends of Johnstown Flood National Memorial and the Forest Hills Senior Center in South Fork. She was active in her community as a volunteer with the St. Michael American Legion Auxiliary, St. Michael Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Forest Hills Labor Day Festival. Hoy was a beautiful person who lived a long, full life. Before retirement she worked at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) for twenty years. She was always on the go visiting friends and family, attending summer festivals, or lending a helping hand. She loved to travel and made many trips to California to see her daughters. She liked puzzles, cowboy movies, playing cards, and Slovenian polkas. 

Friends will gather Monday September 23, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church Fellowship Hall (behind the church); followed by the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Father Jerzy Auguscik, OFM Conv., celebrant.

Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery. 

Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. 

Our family is thankful for the dedicated and loving care provided by the staff of Forest Hills Personal Care Home (FHPCH, Sidman) and AseraCare Hospice over the past two years.
