WHITEFORD – Lois R. (Long), 87, Portage, died September 5, 2021, at home surrounded by loving family. Born October 15, 1933, in New Germany, daughter of Albert J. and Clara H. (Weinzierl) Long.
Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Grace Heinlein, Leona Schissler, Rosemary Gill, and Barbara Dumm; and brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Raymond, and Clair Long.
Survived by loving husband of 66 years, Robert D. Whiteford, whom she married July 16, 1955; son, Gary, married to Shana (Roberts), Lafayette, Georgia; daughters, Janice, wife of Tom Rowett, Spearfish, South Dakota; Shirley, wife of Greg Borow, Portage; Donna, wife of David Nolan, Patton; and Paula, wife of David George, Mineral Point; grandchildren, Sarah (Mark) Sekerak, Nicholas Whiteford, and Trisha (Michael) Whiteford – Bek; Corin (Lucas) Humbracht and Celeste Chubski; Lindsay (Luke) Slezak, Leah (Ryan) Wiggins, and Kevin Borow; Josh (Kristie) Nolan and Layne Nolan; and Christopher George and Carly (Matthew) Cooper; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers, Richard, married to Mary (Brawley), New Germany; and Camillus, married to Betty (Demko), Mount Hope; and sisters, Vera Noll, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; and Joyce, wife of Thomas Gregorich, Mineral Point.
Lois was a graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1952. She was a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany; where she enjoyed fellowship with friends in the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved playing pinochle with family and friends. Family gatherings were always made special by her amazing talent to prepare wonderful meals. A devoted wife and loving mother, Mom cherished family and was happiest when she saw her children and grandchildren reach their accomplishments and experience happiness in their lives. She will always be remembered for her joyful and giving spirit and her selfless compassion towards others.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant.
Committal, St. Marys Cemetery.
