Leroy L. Jr. "Butch," 68, Mount Hope, died Jan. 14, 2017, at Windber Hospice, surrounded by family. Born Nov. 16, 1948, in Johnstown, son of Leroy L. Sr. and June (Pfeil) Long. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Debra Long; and in-laws, Wendle and Elizabeth Myers, Tom Myers, Walter Oberdorf and Victor Bartolomucci.
Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Janice E. (Myers) Long, whom he married July 5, 1969; children, Lisa, wife of Ronald M. Sivec, St. Michael; Matthew, South Fork; and Melanie, wife of Master Sgt. Adam Tack, Kingsland, Ga.; grandchildren, Trista and Danielle Middleton, and Ariel and Ryder Tack; great-granddaughter, Serenity Grace Middleton; sisters, Bonnie (Leroy) Kovack, Hooversville; and Diane Oberdorf, Danville; brothers, James (Emma) Long and William Long, all of Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Sharon Myers, South Fork; Rosalie Bartolomucci, Windber; and Wendy Hartnett, South Fork; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; and also beloved Yorkshire Terries, Buddy and Abby.
Butch was a graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1966. Member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Retired from Beth Energy Mine 33 and also worked at Enmacon and Barclay Electric. Member of UMWA Local 1368, VFW Post 4963, Ebensburg; and American Legion Post 551, St. Michael; and life member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 364, Johnstown.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Viewing also at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, South Fork, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Joseph Stains, officiating.
Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
