DANEL – Josephine M., “Mugga”, 92, St. Michael, died August 15, 2016 at Westmont Woods. Born May 5, 1924 in St. Michael, daughter of Anthony and Frances (Kocjancic) Oshaben.
Preceded in death by parents; beloved husband Alfred Danel, who died July 26, 2007; infant daughter Mary Frances Danel; great–grandson, Zachary Smith; sisters, Dorothy Walker and Faye Hribar; brothers, Edward and Frank Robert Oshaben; and special nephew Alan Oshaben.
Survived by daughters, Linda Jo, widow of Carl Berkey, Windber; Jeannine, married to Daniel Goncher Sr., Richland; Lisa, married to Stuart Smith, Elton; and Laura Faye, married to Gary Hood, St. Michael; sister Mary Sivec, South Fork; grandchildren, Heather Jo (Dan), Daniel Jr. (Kelly), Ian (Ashley), Elyse (Don), Garrison, Nicole (Josh), Rachelle (Brian), and Marlene (David); great-grandchildren, Carly Rae, Brady, Avery, Allyson, Olivia, Lucy Mae, Trentyn, Makaia, Justin, and Ashley; and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved relatives.
Josephine sought daily guidance and solace through prayer and was a devout lifetime member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, where she faithfully served as a church greeter and member of Martha’s Group. She further served her community as a hard working member of the St. Michael Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, St. Michael American Legion Post 551 Ladies Auxiliary, volunteer at the Coal Miners Museum and as a Democratic Committee Woman. Graduate of Adams High School Class of 1944. One of her greatest joys was cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their many games. As an avid sports fan she also enjoyed watching the Steelers, Notre Dame, Penn State and the Penguins. According to the fond remembrances of her loved ones, “Those who knew her, loved her.” She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where the Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m and vigil for the deceased will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, by Fr. Brian Warchola.
