GRUCA – Joseph J., 86, Sidman, formerly of Central City, died February 24, 2018, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical. Born August 24, 1931, in Central City, son of Martin and Helen (Chroniski) Gruca.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Florence (McKee) Gruca, who died August 16, 1996; step-children, Wallace Dick Sr. and Barbara Prysiazniuk; and grandson, Randy Dick; sisters, Mary Beck, Bertha Evano, Helen Gesinski and Jane Musial; brothers, Theodore, Walter, Edward and infant brother, Henry.
Survived by grandchildren, Wallace (Susan) Dick, Shirl Ann(David) Schroeder, Paulette Dick, and Tammy Prysiazniuk; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe proudly served his country in the US Air Force, serving in Germany during the Korean War. Member of the American Legion, Central City; VFW, Seward; and Disabled American Veterans. Retired from a life of working in the construction industry. Joe loved the challenge of assembling puzzles and solving crossword puzzles. He enjoyed growing flowers and was a passionate Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, by Father Joseph C. Nale.
