John S. "Sam" Young

YOUNG – John S. “Sam,” 59, Summerhill; died June 8, 2021, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born July 7, 1961, in Johnstown; son of John R. and Janice L. (Connelly) Young. Preceded in death by father; granddaughter, Serena Grace; and brother-in-law, Alan Johnson.

Survived by mother, Summerhill; wife of 20 years, Lee A. (Goughnour) Young, Summerhill; daughter, Ashley L., wife of Chase Thomas, South Fork; stepdaughters, Amy E., wife of Chris Brown, Johnstown; and Amanda J. Knipple, engaged to Nate Hunt, Ebensburg; beloved grandchildren, Gracelyn Rose, Desmond Gage, Baylee Sage, and Nella May; siblings; Cheryl A., wife of Thomas Chiesa, Kersey; Regina M. Johnson, Greencastle; Richard A., Upper Yoder; Robert A., engaged to Fran Hawksworth, Hastings; and Jill L., wife of Scott A. Kleinfelter, Richland; nieces, Amanda and Stephanie; and nephews, Shaun, Michael, Zachary, and John.

Graduate of Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech, class of 1979 and former employee of YRC Freight. Sam was an avid fan of the Steelers and Pirates, he enjoyed playing games and surfing the internet on his tablet, and especially cherished spending time with family. We will forever hold dear his memory in our hearts.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc, South Fork; where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Father Joseph C. Nale presiding.

Committal, St. Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery, Wilmore.
