HEINLEIN – John F. “Jack,” 83, New Germany, died October 7, 2019, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born March 26, 1936, in Johnstown, son of Leo A. and Josephine (Kessler) Heinlein. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Mary Grace Roberts; and brothers, Theodore and James L. “Heinie” Heinlein.
Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Grace V. (Long) Heinlein, whom he married September 14, 1957; children, Frederick, married to Julie (Billetdeaux), Ebensburg; Albert, and fiancée Jean Galla, Summerhill; Mary, wife of Kenneth Plummer, Sidman; Doris, wife of Howard Kirsch, Spotsylvania, Virginia; Eileen, wife of David Deskevich, Vinco; and Michael, married to Megan (Bloom), Glengary, West Virginia; twenty grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Graduate of Johnstown Catholic High, class of 1953. US Army veteran of the Korean War. Jack was a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany. Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Prince Gallitzin Council 2275, where he was a former Grand Knight and past financial secretary. Jack was also a member of St. Michael American Legion Post 551. Retired owner and operator of Replogle Moving and Storage, which he acquired in 1975. Jack enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with family. His family and friends will hold dear memories of a kind and generous man who lived a life of faith.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held and Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Leon Hont, OSB, Celebrant.
