MOSS – John R. Jr., “Butchie,” 60, South Fork, died August 21, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. Born August 8, 1957, in Windber, son of John R. “Butch” and Billie Rae (Peel) Moss. Preceded in death by father; and father-in-law, Vincent A. Sheedy Sr.
Survived by loving wife, Melissa (Sheedy) Moss, South Fork; sons, Joshua, married to Sabrina (Ainsley), Uniontown; and Trey and companion, Tommy Sibert, South Fork; daughter, Katilynne, at home; granddaughters, Morgan, Madison, Peyton, and Isla; mother, Billie Rae Moss, South Fork; sister, Lisa Moss and friend, Karen, New Germany; brothers, Teddy J., Mariana; Donald, married to Karen (Frazer), Windber; and Michael S., married to Brenda (Galosi), Salix; mother-in-law, Judith Sheedy, South Fork; brother-in-law, Charlie Lallemand, South Fork; and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.
Butchie was a graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech, class of 1975. He retired from the Ebensburg State Center after 33 years of service as a mechanic and supervisor. Lifetime member and Chief of South Fork Volunteer Fire Company and social member of American Legion Post 653 and VFW Post 7524, South Fork. His family and friends will hold dear memories of a fun, kind and generous man who was full of love, laughter and charm.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where the firefighters will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Viewing will also be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, the Rev. Arlene Bobrowicz officiating.
Interment, South Fork Cemetery.
The family is especially thankful to the ICU and Cath Lab staff of Memorial Medical Center for the compassionate care Butch received.
