BANKS - Kathryn Regina “Jean,” 80, St. Michael, departed her loving family Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the comfort of her family home. Born November 6, 1941, in South Fork, daughter of Michael and Sophia (Resick) Baloga.
Preceded in death by parents; sister, Barbara “Tossy” Klemens; and brother, Jimmy Dougherty.
Survived by loving husband of 58 years, Charles J. Banks, whom she married March 23, 1963, three children, Deborah Ann Simmons (Scott), Middletown, Delaware; Sandra Lee Franciosi (Joseph), Andover, New Jersey; and Charles T. Banks (Michelle), Blairsville, beloved grandsons, Cory, Logan, and Trevor Morales; Timothy and Brady Simmons; and Charlie Banks. Jean was so proud of her family and their accomplishments. In addition, she is also survived by her siblings, Jack Baloga (Winona), Sarah “Sally” Layton (Roger), Margaret “Mickey” Bevans, Mark Baloga (Jeanette), Paul Baloga (Cindy), Marian “Buttons” Slebodnick (Mark), and Harry Dougherty (Doris); and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from South Fork Croyle High School in 1959, raised three children, and then completed nursing school. She was a caring LPN at Laurel Crest Manor during the beginning of her career and retired from Lee Hospital. A woman of strong faith, Jean was a member of St. Michael United Methodist Church, St. Michael; where she joyfully sang in the choir many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the church and the St. Michael American Legion. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and an amazing “GaGa” grandmother. She loved flowers and gardening, shopping, crocheting, and taking trips to visit her children, their families, and any casino nearby. Her story-telling skills will always be remembered by her grandkids! She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday February 19, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
A memorial service will held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 21, at t St. Michael United Methodist Church, the Reverend Jon C. Gulnac officiating.
