WINGARD – Jay O., 77, Salix, was called home to the Lord Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center after a courageous fight with cancer. Born January 28, 1939 in South Fork, son of the late Algie and Mildred (Yoder) Wingard.
Survived by loving wife of 53 years, L. Marie (Scott) Wingard; children, Randall, and his companion Amy, Baltimore, Maryland; Renee, wife of Terry Seese, Windber; Robin, wife of Kurt Barclay, Ridgway; and Ryan Wingard, at home; 7 grandchildren; brother, Jack Wingard; and sister, Patricia Rosey, both of Salix; sisters-in-law, Helen Jo (Gene), Shirley and Sharon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.
Jay was a lifelong member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, Salix. Graduate of South Fork Croyle High School, class of 1956. In 1972 with his brother Jack he co-founded J&J Wingard Truck Caps, Salix. He worked as a truck driver, retiring after many years at Sani-Dairy and Deans’s, Johnstown. Jay was a tremendous classic car enthusiast and member of the Johnstown Street Survivors. He enjoyed going to car shows, cruises and hanging out at Wolf’s with his car club family. His family and friends will hold dear memories of a loving, kind and generous man who was full of charm, life and laughter.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Viewing also at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, 130 Palestine Road, Salix, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.
