Janice L. Young

YOUNG – Janice L., 84, formerly of Summerhill, passed away August 28, 2023. Born August 23, 1939, in Summerhill, daughter of Thomas and Dolores (Tully) Connelly. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John R. Young, who died October 20, 2008; son, John “Sam” Young; son-In-law, Alan Johnson; great granddaughter, Serena Grace; sister, Mary Jo Plummer; and brother, Thomas Connelly.

Survived by children, Cheryl Chiesa (Thomas), Regina Johnson; Richard; Robert; and Jill Kleinfelter (Scott), grandchildren, Ashley (Chase), Stephanie (Paul), Shaun (Shanna), Amanda (Stephen), Michael (Amanda), Zachary, Erik, Nathan, and John; great grandchildren, Gracelyn, and Jameson; sister, Grace Eisenhuth; and brother, Robert Connelly.

Janice was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Summerhill. She was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School, class of 1957; and earned an associate degree in Medical Technology from Mount Aloysius College. She was proud of her forty-three-year career as a Medical Technologist; having worked at Lee, Mercy, and Conemaugh. Janice was a loving devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and confidant. Her strong sense of family was a guiding light for her family throughout their lives, often considering “What would Janice do?” in difficult situations. She enjoyed relaxing with a good book and especially cherished precious time with the babies and toddlers showering them with love and affection. Her kind and gentle ways will be missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant.
