James J. Rice, Sr.

RICE - James J., 82, Salix, passed away May 27, 2024. Born October 2, 1941, in South Fork, son of Joseph and Hazel (Penrod) Rice. Preceded in death by his wife, Judy who died just weeks before their 65th wedding anniversary; parents; and siblings, David and Harold Rice, Olive Nanna, and Marlene Simanski. 

Survived by children, James J. Jr., married to Charlene (Roxby); Allen; and Susan, wife of John Younkin; sisters, Mary Jane Watson and Connie Nanna; and grandchildren, J.T. Rice and Xavier, Levi, and Quentin Younkin. 

He enjoyed his grandchildren, planting extraordinary gardens, and traveling with his wife. 

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday May 31, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Reverend Joseph Stains, presiding.
