BERTOLINO – James A., 88, South Fork, went to be with the Lord, February 2, 2023. Born January 17, 1935, in Sidman son of Peter P. Sr. and Bernice “Maggie” (Mickus) Bertolino. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Martha (Guinard) Bertolino, who died December 27, 2005; son-in-law, Kevin Smay; brothers, John and Peter Jr. Bertolino; sisters-in-law, Agnes and Catherine Bertolino; nephew, Michael Bertolino and niece, Theresa Fleck; great niece, Nicole Bertolino; and great nephew, Kyle Fleck.
Survived by daughter, Christine B. (Bertolino) Smay, South Fork; granddaughters, Cara M., wife of Michael J. Ferrante, Windber; and Courtney L., wife of Andrew B. Swanson, Sidman; great granddaughters, Auden J., Blaken M., and Cameron L. Swanson; great grandsons, Henry James and Luke Anthony Ferrante; brother, Charles, married to Mary Ann (Trotter) Bertolino; in-laws, Mary & Lyle Harrell, Evelyn Guinard, and Marion Guinard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a 1952 graduate of Adams Township High School. Jim served as a sergeant in the USAR from 1957 to 1963. Past president of Teamsters Union, Local 110 and longtime charter bus driver and school bus driver for Forest Hill School District. Former member of Adams Township Volunteer Fire Company, No. 2 and American Legion Post 551, St. Michael. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a terrific cook. His granddaughter’s biggest fan, Pap never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Forest Hills Girls Basketball Team. He supported them in every endeavor with unconditional love and encouragement, and nothing brought him more joy than babysitting his great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant.
