CORDEK – Helen, 95, formerly of South Fork, died March 14, 2018, at The Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg. Born November 14, 1922, in Croyle Township, daughter of Nicholas and Susanna (Smrek) Blaner.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, John C. Cordek, who died February 27, 1960; daughter-in-law, Joyce (Smithmeyer) Cordek; sisters, Josephine Todd and Ann Rinna; brothers, Andrew, Steven, Joseph, John and Michael; and sister, Mary and brother, Steve who died in childhood.
Survived by sons, Lawrence D., Hollidaysburg; John M., married to Carol (Brenna), Sidman; daughters, Patricia, wife of Terry Petrun, Harrisburg; and Christine M., wife of David Bright, Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Chris (Jacy), Chad, Jocelyn (Paul), Kevin (Jenna), Keriann (Tony), Erin (Casey) and Adam; great grandchildren, Madison, Caroline, Josh, Natalie, Kylie, Chris, Caleb, AJ, Lauren, Kiaya and Luca.
Helen was a retired seamstress and former member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork. She enjoyed her family, praying the rosary, church, crossword puzzles and strawberry ice cream on Sundays. Her family will hold dear memories of a woman who was steadfast throughout her entire life, strong willed, and true to her faith. She was warm and gentle in every way to everyone she met. Her stories she told of her childhood will be remembered by all.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale Celebrant,
Committal, St. James Cemetery.
