BOWMAN – Helen A., 96, Ebensburg, formerly of Salix, died April 23, 2025, at the Villages of Maple Heights. Born October 13, 1928, in Conemaugh Township, daughter of Louis G. Sr. and Elizabeth (Partsch) Harteis. Preceded in death by parents; husband, William Richard Bowman, who died March 1, 2012; daughter, Diana Koval; stepson, Richard Bowman; grandson, Jason Douglas; siblings, Louis G. Harteis Jr., Etheleen Brewer, Ruth Vickers, Mary Koach, Betty Martin, Edward Harteis, and Donald Harteis.
Survived by children, Ronald (Diana) Schad, Joyce (Mark) Douglas, and Lorie (John) Hornick; stepson, Ronald (Patricia) Bowman; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Paul Harteis and sister, Evelyn James; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was a graduate of the Hammond School of Beauty Culture and proudly boasted that she was the “youngest to receive an Instructor’s License.” She also spent many years working at Glosser’s eventually becoming Department Manager then retiring from Fashion Bug. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, having served in the Altar and Rosary Society and was a faithful Eucharistic Minister, and enjoyed baking and helping with the fish fries.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday at Saint Gregory Catholic Church, Daisytown, Father Callistus I. Elue.
