RUMMEL - Gretchen A., Salix, died on her 66th birthday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 3, 1951, in Johnstown, daughter of Matthew I. “Stoney” and H. Elizabeth “Betty” (Good) Jackson.
Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter; and brother, Gary Jackson.
Survived by devoted husband of 45 years, Karl Rummel, whom she married May 20, 1972; son, Matthew, married to Sarah (Welch), Nashville, Tennessee; and daughter, Karen, wife of Daniel Little, Salix; beloved grandchildren, Jackson and Grace; brothers, James, married to Doris (Bigley), Hernando, Florida; and David, married to JoAnn (Selepack), Rockville, Maryland; sister-in-law, Sue (Reber) Jackson, Birdsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.
Gretchen was a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Class of 1969. Retired Director of Career Services at the former Cambria-Rowe Business College, Johnstown. She was a member of American Legion Post 551, Ladies Auxiliary, St. Michael; and an ambassador for Greater Johnstown – Cambria County Chamber of Commerce. Gretchen will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her joyous and resilient spirit taught us all to truly cherish what matters most: sharing life’s precious moments with those we love.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m until time of funeral service at noon Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, the Rev. Arlene Bobrowicz, officiating.
