COLTON – George, 94, South Fork, died July 27, 2022, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home, Sidman. Born January 4, 1928, in Morann, Clearfield County, son of Harry and Nellie (Stecnitz) Colton. Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Phillip Concel; sisters, Mary Kolarawski, Kathryn Rindo, Ann Bulvin, and Margaret Bowen; and brothers, John, Andrew, and Michael Colton.
Survived by loving wife of 72 years, Carmelina “Carm” (Ardire) Colton, whom he married July 15, 1950; sons, Dr. Richard, married to Joanne (Sebastian), Granite Falls, North Carolina; and David, married to Pauline (Hop), Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Adam, Deanna, Tom (Mary), and Linda (Mike); great grandchildren, Anna (Tyler), Mariah (Dominic), Tommy, Jordan, Jade, and Jocelyn; great-great grandchildren, Kayle and Jase; and brother, Carl Concel, Johnstown.
George was a US Army veteran having served in the Philippines during WWII. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as a supervisor in the Mechanical Department. As a faithful member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, he assisted many priests on the Altar in his later years. He was a life-long member of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department where he served as both Chief and Assistant Fire Chief for over 30 years and was also a member of the Forest Hills Senior Citizen Center.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant.
