JOHNS – Gail I. (Weaver), 86, Mt. Hope, died peacefully February 16, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Born August 5, 1937, in Adams Township, daughter of Edward E. and Beatrice (Reighard) Weaver. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harold B. “Fuzz” Johns, who died March 27, 2002; infant son, Kerry Lynn, who died June 4, 1965; sisters, Shirley Horner, Patsy Young, and Ruby Mock; and brothers, Donald and Edward Weaver.
Survived by children, Howard “Butch” (Cathie Hillegas), Ronald (Esther Rummel), Sharon (Tim Bassett), Vickie (Brian Bowman), and Lurleen (Robert Lohr Jr.); eleven beloved grandchildren; nineteen cherished great grandchildren with another on the way; sisters, Doris Harteis, Nonie (Blake Yoder), Janet Homway, Bonnie Edwards, and Nancy Benshoff.
Gail was a member of Mount Hope Community Church, Mount Hope. She enjoyed keeping her lawn beautiful and tending to her flowers. Over the years she worked at Bestform, McDonald’s Chrome Plating, Toy Ladies and cleaned houses.
If you knew Gail, you knew she was the life of the party! Even though she had a larger-than-life personality, her charm and charisma had a way of making you know you were loved. She enjoyed dressing up and impersonating Minnie Pearl; which never failed to entertain. She even won a Minnie Pearl look-a-like contest in 2012 and was awarded a trip to the Grand Ole Opry where she performed her act to thunderous applause on the legendary stage.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday, at Mount Hope Community Church; the Reverend Joseph Stains, presiding. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.
