POPONAK – Frances L., 87, Bellefonte, formerly of St. Michael, died March 3, 2016, at Centre Crest Nursing Home. Born Aug. 23, 1928, in Nanty Glo, daughter of Peter and Helen (Smith) White.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Frank G. Poponak Sr., who died Dec. 19, 2005; son, Frank G. Poponak Jr.; daughter, Marilyn Bomboy; sister, Carolyn Colton; and brother, Joseph White. Survived by sons, Gerald, married to Mary Barille, Lock Haven; and Lawrence, married to Judy Addleman, Bellefonte; daughter, Gloria, wife of Robert Donworth, Gulf Shores, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Earl Bomboy, Milesburg.
Frances was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte, and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing bingo and volunteering at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. She had a very loving and kind spirit and will sadly missed by all who knew her.
Friends received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, by Fr. Leon Hont, OSB. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery.
