It is with heavy hearts the family of Levetta “Fern” Gilpatrick announces her passing on March 12 at the age of 91 at Windber Hospice.
Fern was born November 15, 1926, in Wilmore, daughter of Joseph and Eva (Crum) Bolvin. Her mother died when Fern was a baby and she was raised by her loving Aunt Alice. Also preceded in death by her father; husband, Elmo “Bo,” to whom she was married 48 years; aunt, Alice Bolvin; and brothers, Clair, Sherman and Bobby.
Survived by three children, Joseph, married to Bonnie (Miller), Salix; Jeanette, wife of Mark Baloga, Mount Hope; and Douglas, married to Stacey (Culp), Richland; nine granddaughters, Tambor (Rodney) Jennings; Mindy (Linda) Gilpatrick; Cristy (A.J.) Hamara; Bre (Jeff) Custer; Carrie (Joseph) Green; Heather (Brandon) Bailey; Kali (Matthew) Gleto; Nikki Gilpatrick; and Alyssa (Brad) Gilpatrick; great grandchildren, Britani (Bryan) Jennings; Mikala, Ashlyn and Livia Hamara; Brody and Brynn Custer; Jackson Green; Karsen, Morgan and Koby Bailey; and Aurora Godin; great great grandsons, Kaden and Kye Chumbley; and brother Dean Bolvin, Florida.
Fern was an avid bowler. She enjoyed bingo, bus trips and on occasion gambling. She was an active member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church and spent many enjoyable hours making apple dumplings with her friends. Her grandchildren will always remember her as a “fun grandma” who loved playing softball, doing puzzles, raking leaves or fishing with them.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Viewing will also be held at Mount Hope United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, the Reverend Joseph Stains officiating.
Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Windber Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
