SWANSBORO – Eugene Saul “Gene,” 83, Salix, passed away July 29, 2024, at home. Born September 23, 1940, in Windber. Preceded in death by parents; Robert and Pauline C. (Poponak) Swansboro; and brother, Robert Swansboro.
Survived by beloved wife of 60 years, Linda L. (Deyarmin) Swansboro, whom he married November 2, 1963; sons, Robert (Mona); Sean (Jonna); and Brian; grandchildren, Brody, Ashley, Jared, and Isabella; sisters, Sandra Stevens (Thaddeus); Valerie Hudson (Donald); and Sherry Dipko (Donald); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired assistant controller for Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Member of the NRA, St. Michael Sportsman’s Club, and St. Michael American Legion, Post 551. Some of his favorite moments were spent hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, always putting his family first. He taught his children the value of hard work, the importance of honesty, and the beauty of nature. He led by example, showing them what it meant to live a life of integrity and to appreciate the simple things.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. Military rites by St. Michael American Legion, Post 551.
