Miller – Eugene Francis, 83, of Portage, died March 21, 2024 at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona. Born October 3, 1940 in Portage son of Leo and Grace (Skelly) Miller. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Beverly R. (Fresch) Miller; brother, Richard; and daughter, Wendy Martino.
Survived by daughters, Beverly Ann Castiglione (Joe) and Christina Miller; 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Mary Grace Sencowski; and brothers, Raymond, Victor, James, and Philip.
Eugene was a proud US Army veteran of both Korea and Vietnam, specializing in mechanics and eventually retiring after 23 years of service. Following his military service he worked at Cambria Tractor, Ray’s Lawnmower and Prince Gallitzin State Park.
Eugene was a devout catholic and member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Wilmore. He lived his faith by helping others, caring not only for his own family but for anyone in need.
His caring nature extended also to the many animals and pets he raised over the years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 and 7 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church; Fr. Joseph C. Nale, celebrant. Committal, South Fork Cemetery.
