LONG – Eugene C., “Mike,” 76, Ebensburg, died July 31, 2018. Born October 2, 1941, in Croyle Township, son of Aloysius and Catherine (Bender) Long.
Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Maximillian, Kevin and Edwin; and sisters, Joan Dumm and Margaret Long.
Survived by loving wife of 50 years, Maureen (Kelly) Long, whom he married August 12, 1967; children, Janet, wife of Alex Schaefer, Pittsburgh; Daniel, married to Kate (von Flotow), Mars; Mickie Long, Mars; and Patrick, married to Suzanna (Angerome), Ebensburg; grandchildren, Maxwell, Thomas and Ann Schaefer; Elizabeth, Zachary, Emily and Riley Long; Owen and Lily Javor; and Eleanor, Lauren and Claire Long. Brother of Alice (Robert) Leiden, St. Lawrence; Gemma (Michael) Oyaski, Ebensburg; Denis (Mary) Long; and Charles (Kathleen) Long, all of New Germany; and Bernadette (Craig) Coleman, Houston, Texas.
Eugene was a 1959 graduate of the former South Fork Croyle High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Francis College. After earning his CPA license and gaining his work experience at Arthur Young, Wessel & Company, and Pepsi, Eugene founded the firm known today as Long, Mulhearn and Criste. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. He loved his family, enjoyed biking, gardening and traveling and was always good for a laugh.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held at 3:45 p.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. David A. Lockard, celebrant.
