GARGON – Eugene J., 90, Salix, passed away peacefully March 7, 2021 at home surrounded by loving family. Born March 1, 1931, in Sankertown, son of Emory and Helen (Hooder) Gargon. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Edith B. (Nickol) Gargon, who died June 28, 2018; son, Eugene J. Jr.; brother, Emory; and sisters, Irene Gurchik, Jennie Gonda, and Helen Beck.
Survived by daughters, Susan, wife of Carrol McDaniel, St. Michael; Nadine, wife of William Deitle, Summerhill; and Michelle Homza, St. Michael; son, Daniel, married to Kimberly (Driggs), Salix; daughter-in-law, Tammy Gargon, Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Gage, Michael, Kristi, Kelli, Art “Beans,” Nick, Lauralee, Billie Jo, Hayley, Canyon, and Cassia; great grandchildren, Bobby, Bre, Morgan, Bailey, Zoe, Ezra, Skyla, Chace, Trinity, Pheonix, and Lynkyn; and great great grandchildren, Julian and Emelia.
Eugene was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from the roll shop at Bethlehem Steel Corp., Gautier Div. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johnstown, for over 60 years. Member of American Legion Post 945 and former board member of Highland Sewer and Water Authority. He was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed his years as a little league coach, and loved hunting, fishing, and camping.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held Thursday evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, Johnstown; Father David Peles Celebrant.
