Eugene R. Cordek

CORDEK – Eugene R., “Moose,” 85, South Fork, died July 4, 2021, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born May 19, 1936, in South Fork, son of Frank Sr. and Rose (Lemanski) Cordek.

Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, Joseph; brothers, Stanley, Frank Jr., Carl, and Felix “Phil”; and sisters, Anna Bopp, Lottie Klebba, and Genevieve Sinosky.

Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Diane (Mehall) Cordek; son, Joseph; grandson, Jackson; sister, Barbara Stiffler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Gene graduated in 1955 from South Fork – Croyle High School, where he was a standout athlete in Football, Basketball, and Track; and was selected to the All-Star Team his senior year. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Car Shop and Rod & Wire Mill Division; and also worked for Mountain Top Nursery. Former member of South Fork Jaycees and served on the committee to form the Forest Hills Municipal Authority. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman, and especially enjoyed his 30 years of annual fishing trips to West Virginia with friends.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale, Celebrant.
