McGOUGH – Ellwood R., 86, Wilmore, passed away May 17, 2019, at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born December 26, 1932, in Summerhill, son of Russell H. and Anna (Bassett) McGough. Preceded in death by parents; and son, Joseph R. McGough.

Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Genevieve (Sakmar) McGough, whom he married August 9, 1952; son, El, married to Patricia (Capatch), Summerhill; daughters, Pamela, wife of Warren Thomas, Portage; and Brenda, wife of Mark Sherbine, Portage; 7 grandsons; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eleanor, wife of Delbert Leonard, Cary, North Carolina.

US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Former owner of McGough’s Market in Wilmore, which he operated together with his wife for 30 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Summerhill; member of St. Michael American Legion Post 551 and past member of the Forest Hills School Board. Ellwood loved to polka with Genevieve, traveling to polka festivals across the country and in Europe. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. His family and friends will hold dear memories of a loving, kind and generous man who was full of life, laughter and a bit of blarney.

Honoring his wishes there will be no visitation.

Private family graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown, the Rev. Toby Holland presiding.

Military rites by St. Michael American Legion.
